I love to quilt. Full stop. People look at my wares and tell me I must love sewing. But it's the quilted stitch that speaks to my heart. Maybe only a long-time quilter makes the differentian. I also love to work with colour, whether it's the beautiful design of a commercial fabric, or the exciting happenstance of a hand-dyed piece of linen.
I was on a date once when I was asked "Quilting, you cut up fabric, you sewing it back together. What's the point?" He was not the creative, open-minded type of soul I was looking for. Maybe not much soul at all if he'd never experienced and appreciated the comfort and pattern of a well loved piece of quilting. That's my bias, anyways.
